Full BiographyThis is a trio of superb acoustic musicians, all based in Kent. UK-based Kiwi Brendan Power has developed a considerable reputation for his concert and recording work featuring the harmonica. Equally at ease on both the earthy Blues Harp as well as the sophisticated Chromatic Harmonica, he tunes them to his own personal scales to create a highly original style. Since he moved to Britain in 1992, Brendan’s technical skills and sympathetic ear have made him an in-demand London session player, leading to some high-profile live and recording work with artists such as Sting, Desrée, James Galway, Van Morrison, Paul Young, John Williams, and many more. His playing is featured on several Hollywood movie soundtracks, including films starring Madonna, Britney Spears and Jackie Chan, and BBC TV series such as Auf Wiedersehen Pet. He was a featured soloist in the Riverdance Show from 1996-99. Since the release of his CD New Irish Harmonica Brendan has become known for his traditional Irish playing, but his compositions reflect his eclectic tastes, ranging from down-home Blues to Bulgarian folk music and Swing Jazz. Brendan also makes custom harmonicas, which he sells from his website: www.brendan-power.com Rochester-based Lucy Randall got her first drum kit at age 11 and was soon accompanying her mum on Hammond organ, playing at local gigs and variety shows, and going on to perform with various local rock bands. However, after seeing Irish band De Dannan play at the Central Theatre Chatham in 1995, Lucy was inspired to take up the bodhran, and is now quickly becoming known around the UK and Ireland for her expertise on the traditional Irish instrument. She has played with the likes of Steafan Hannigan and Gerry Diver (Sine) and the Michael McGoldrick Band, plus recording for various artists and Irish dance shows. She has also toured Jordan and Ireland with Kent based band Monkey Puzzle. As well as teaching privately and working for the charity funded organisation Live Music Now, Lucy is busy working on a bodhran tutor book and new bodhran notational system, which she hopes to publish in the summer.
