Jessica Goyder, multi instrumentalist and singer/songwriter has a personal and contemporary take on the Bossa Nova tradition. Jessica has an original and unique talent in visual, conceptual and musical terms. She can hold a crowd in the palm of her hand with only her unaccompanied voice alternatively soaring above the full sound of a furious band of musicians and electronica. She initially trained with composer Lionel Sainsbury and later taught herself the guitar. She counts as her most significant achievement to date, her funding a year of Spanish Studies in Barcelona solely through her music. She also has experience of educational and community work with international young adults in Budapest. During her time in Barcelona she developed a 'Heavenly Music Machine' Street Act in which an angel statue comes alive and sings/plays/improvises if you drop a coin, and continues to enjoy this direct interaction with audiences. In parallel she is developing a more conventional concert career with series in London and appearances at the Laus Design Awards in Brighton. She is also writing music for film including the animation 'The bungleup' screened at the ICA, London. |
