Previous members of Live Music Now! and winners of the Perrier Young Jazz Band of the year award 2000, the Higginbottom/Mayne Quartet contains some of the finest young musicians in the country. Their repertoire is wide ranging, including music at the cutting edge of contemporary jazz but containing a respect for traditions, original compositions by members of the band and interpretations of familiar and less familiar pieces.

Chris Higginbottom (drums) has performed with many of the country's leading performers including Jason Rebello, Tim Garland, and Julian Arguilles and has given concerts in Austria, France and Spain. He is a keen composer and has had works broadcast on Radio 3. Chris has been living in New York attending the New School since August of last year. He has been playing in Manhattan on a regular basis in some of the many clubs and bars that have live music and has been recording with musicians from North and South America. Some of the more well known names he has played with include Seamus Blake, Eric Alexander and Eric Lewis.

Sammy Mayne (sax) has played with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra for seven years. He has also worked with Johnny Dankworth and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra.

Mike Outram (guitar) is one of the most 'in demand' guitarists of the moment. He has performed and recorded with leading jazz musicians including Dave O'Higgins, John Ellis, Herbie Mann, Stan Sulzman and Martin Speake.

Tom Herbert (bass) is a member of Tomorrow's Warriors, a new ensemble of today's freshest young talent and he has also worked with Courtney Pine, Jean Toussaint, Christine Tobin and Mark Lockheart.
