The Galliard Ensemble was founded in 1993 when its members were students at the Royal Academy of Music, and has since won several major awards including the Maisie Lewis Young Arts Award, the Park Lane Group Series, the BBC Radio 3 Young Artists Forum and more recently their appointment as Radio 3 Debut Artists. The Ensemble has performed throughout the country, including recitals in the City of London Music Society 'Poulenc' series and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Their repertoire spans a wide range, from Beethoven and Mozart to Berio and Birtwistle, and they can also offer lighter repertoire and arrangements to suit every taste. They have a strong interest in contemporary composition, and have worked with many eminent living composers.

Younger and less familiar composers compete in their Wind Quintet Composition Competition and the group has so far found and adopted into its repertoire four works through this initiative. A CD featuring Paul Patterson's complete works for wind quintet, Holst's Quintet, and two of the new works they have discovered through their competition is available on Meridian Records.

Galliard Ensemble have undertaken educational concerts with Live Music Now! and can offer schools concerts, family concerts or short workshops or demonstrations either on the day of the concert, or on other occasions.
