The Chris Wood Trio is an outstanding group who have developed a unique sound and repertoire which crosses the boundaries between traditional and classical music. Their performances of new compositions and semi-improvised arrangements of traditional songs make for music that is fresh and spontaneous. The music sounds alive and relevant and is enriched by singing and guitar playing alongside the line up of two violins and cello. Chris Wood is widely known as one of England's most colourful players of traditional music and has collaborated with Martin Carthy, Andy Cutting and Jean François Vrod. Nick Cooper is a classically trained cellist and an experienced jazz player having worked with the Michael Nyman Band and recorded with John Surman. Anne Wood is a member of the Kathryn Tickell Band and a member of the Jocelyn Pook Ensemble. She has recorded music for several film scores including Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. |
